Multimedia project : the welsh pop music resource pages

The project is a CD-ROM version of an Internet website The Welsh Pop Music Resource Pages, and is intended as a nucleus for a possible PhD project to construct an information and entertainment system for the Welsh popular music industry. The paper that accompanied the projectcan also be viewed by clicking Many of the topics covered in the previous writeup will be explored in greater depth in the main body of this paper, which will discuss the project background and the technologies used in its realization from both a historical and technical perspective.

This project will also act as the basis for a larger project to be completed for the second part of my Master's degree - a project which will discuss the technologies involved in allowing music industries an opportunity to promote and sell their products and services on the Internet. The first part of this paper will therefore be the basis for a historical and technical overview of the medium, while the second part will describe the design of the project and the processes involved in its construction. This paper is intended to be technical because of the nature of the medium, therefore more attention will be paid to the processes involved in designing and constructing the site than the theory behind it.
