Conclusion

It is hoped that the site will become an information resource for anyone interested in Welsh popular music. The site will eventually contain an extensive history of the industry, more contacts, extended band interviews from magazines and fanzines etc. It is also hoped that a music review section can be developed, featuring reviews of new releases and archives, with audio examples. Perhaps it may even be possible to include footage of live performances and archive footage so that users can experience full interactive multimedia.

The site is the first of its kind in Wales, since most music industry-related companies with a presence on the Web tend to rely on self-promotion and are unwilling to promote the activities of others or the industry as a whole. The site will therefore become a source of reference for industry personnel as well as the general public. It will be possible for radio or TV personnel to read about and listen to new bands who are just breaking, while music journalists can discover which bands are going to appear on TV in the coming weeks and so design their entertainment pages accordingly. The public can discover which bands will be performing in their area and where they can buy music products locally.

The benefits of the Internet are obvious - international and even global publicity of a music scene which is rarely covered in the music press. The Welsh Pop Music Resource Pages will offer web users anywhere in the world the opportunity to read and learn about Welsh pop music, its history, key players and to hear tracks that have become classics in the scene. Users can interact by e-mailing or writing to the bands involved in the project. The site will hopefully become a resource for anyone who would like to research the subject in the future, since little information was available to me when researching this project.

Though this version of The Welsh Pop Music Resource Pages is fully functional, it is only a small part of what I hope it will one day become. Due to time restraints I have not had the opportunity to explore all the possible features that could be integrated into the site, but this will certainly not be an end to the project's development.
