Surrounded
by 70 acres of beautiful parkland, Bramall Hall is a superb example
of a Cheshire black & white timber framed manor house dating from
the 14th Century.
The house
has a splendid Tudor room with Victorian additions, an extensive
events program and is ideal for weddings.
Opening Times
The hall is open from Good Friday to September Monday to Saturday
1.00-5.00pm and on Sundays and bank holidays 11.00-5.00. From October
to 1st January Tuesday to Saturday 1pmm to 4pm and Sundays and bank
holidays from 11am to 4pm. Last entry is 45 minutes before closing
time.
Booking your
visit
Booking ahead is essential if you are bringing a group of foreign
students to the museum. This means the museum will know that the
group are EFL students and you can benefit from the specially designed
worksheets.
1. Contact the museum on tel.+44 161 485 3708 and say you want to
make a booking for EFL students.
2. When making the booking please give the following details: date
and time of visit; your name and position/relationship to the students;
name of organisation; which country/countries the students come
from; number of students; age of students; students' level of English;
how you are going to pay for the visit; special requests
3. Your booking will be confirmed and you pay on arrival by cheque
or you can pay by credit card at the time of booking. There is a
£1.50 charge for credit card payments.
Prices
Group discounts are available. Please ask at the time of booking.
Standard admission fees are: £3.50 for adults; £2.00
for students, children, senior citizens and the unemployed.
Transport
The museum is situated in Bramhall about 2 miles outside Stockport
town centre.
If you are arriving by coach there is plenty of space to park at
the Hall. There is a small charge for this.
If you are arriving by bus there are frequent services from Stockport
bus station. Numbers 377 and 378 go to the Hall.
If you are arriving
by car you can park in the car park for a small charge.
If you are arriving by train the nearest stations are Bramhall and
Cheadle Hulme.
Other useful
information
- Toilets are
available in the hall and in the gardens.
- There is
a café serving food and drink available at the Stables
Tea Rooms but this can get very crowded if your party is large.
If it is good weather students can sit on the grass surrounding
the museum to eat their packed lunches. There is also facilities
for students to eat inside but this must be booked in advance.
- Wheelchair
access is only to the ground floor of the hall and to the tea
room and shop.
- Worksheets
are available for EFL students as well as for other groups of
students i.e. younger students. Staff at the museum can recommend
which sheets are most appropriate to your group.
- Maximum group
size for the museum is 50 students approx. but it is recommended
that groups are no larger than 25-390 for students to get the
most from their visit.
- There is
small shop in the museum which sells teaching materials and souvenirs.
If students wish to visit the shop they should do so in small
groups.
